Review: “Resident Evil: Revelations”

A return to the roots of “Survival Horror” distressing situations, the best script of the series, the presence of puzzles, a lot of characters, longer gaming experience, multiplayer, best graphics game for 3DS and. .. primarily intended to unveil the whole truth. These were some of the promises that Resident Evil: Revelations promised. It’s time to discover them. Enter with us into the world of “Survival Horror”.
Resident Evil, released in 1996 for the PlayStation, marked and identified one of the genres known today: “Survival Horror”. The feeling of being caught and with little ammunition, surrounded by a terrifying monsters and sinister atmosphere, captivated millions of players throughout the world. Therefore, Capcom, and as many companies succumbed to the temptation to produce more innovative concepts of terror that his more playable.

In fact, the sequel, RE2, was another bestseller, followed by a RE3 which, though it too continued without the spark of the former. Time passed, sequels RE4 did not stop to transform the landscape. Many aspects have changed. Japanese developers left partially the once attributed to creating the brand, by reformulating the original concept to give it more action. It was not necessarily negative, less if we consider the great work that ended up being created, but with RE5 users and criticism sounded the alarm: action could not be imposed on the basis inherent in the series.

Regarding the gameplay, you need to understand that the game breaks away from what we saw in the previous Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D which gave us a more focused on action but now the playing style recovers the origins of the genre the survival horror, with claustrophobic scenes in which the suspense and fear take the spotlight again throughout the game, to always having to further complicate things, a very limited amount of ammo and weapons is given to the player.

Also as expected, the game will also leverage the unique capabilities of Nintendo 3DS, as well as traditional controls we can also use the touch screen of the console when performing various actions such as changing weapon quickly, or in solving the many puzzles that we will find throughout the adventure.

But that’s not the end, since in addition to story mode there is also the new Assault mode, in which up to two friends can play cooperatively overcoming a number of unique missions of this type, and can earn points for enemies eliminated, while also improving our weapons and we if you want to level up your character.

To conclude we note that the visuals is certainly one of the elements that have surprised us in the game, in the case of one of the titles for Nitendo 3DS with better technical capabilities from all those we’ve seen so far, having taken advantage of has the great potential of this console, and all this of course as usual on this 3D graphics platform that requires no glasses.  Another bit of detail that we also liked was the fact that at the time of shooting it is possible at all times to switch between a first person view or third person depending on the preferences of each player

Resident Evil: Revelations will hit stores this coming January 27, it has been confirmed that the game can be purchased individually, or as a special pack button next to the new Slider Pro, a peripheral that adds to the console  as a second analog stick and Two new triggers, which is an ideal complement to this kind of adventure, considerably improving the gaming experience.

Conclusions of Resident Evil: Revelations

Without getting completely back to the roots of the “survival horror” genre RE: Revelations becomes one of the best releases currently available for Nintendo 3DS. Halfway between the harrowing survival of the first Resident Evil and the frantic action of the last versions released, Capcom gives us the best game that currently uses the “hardware” of the Nintendo 3DS, with a dash of what could be expected on a desktop console and great for multiplayer lengthen the experience of this great game. A must.
