More developers indicate that Wii U is not as powerful as Xbox 360 or PS3

A few days ago we where told by several anonymous developers that indicated that the Wii U would not even be more powerful than the current Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and now new statements from developers point in the same direction.

Following statements by anonymous sources granted to Games Industry of which spoke recently, and has been able to collect further views on the power of the future Nintendo console.

The graphics look great, but fails in other respects

The general opinion is that Wii U games “look just as good” as in the current Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but fear that the console does not prove more in power compared to other technical aspects. This may be because the raw power of the console would be lower than the current consoles from Microsoft and Sony.

According to the developers, the CPU (main processor) of the console does not have as much power as the main processor 360 and PlayStation 3. Not so, apparently, with the GPU, the graphics processor. Therefore, developers fear that the console is left behind in areas such as complex physics or artificial intelligence.

“Assume that Wii U games will look like current games with more resolution and better texture is not very successful. They look just as good, not better,” said one of the developers. “Do not expect anything special from the visual point of view.”

Even conversions can cause problems

Another developer directly indicates that neither the GPU or the RAM of the console will be a problem, but agrees that the console does not have the same ability to process data that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 because the CPU is not as powerful.

Even conversions of existing Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games might be conflicting in some respects, for this same developer indicates that “we are still working on development machines, but there have been some problems.” Explaining the issue, adding that “not a problem to make things work because the architecture is very traditional, but there are limitations with things like physics or artificial intelligence because the hardware is not as powerful.”
