The new Xbox would be between 4 and 6 times more powerful than the current and include Kinect 2 together with augmented reality glasses.
A presentation on the web leaked a 56-page sample from Microsoft’s intentions for its next home console, which is listed as Xbox 720. The document dated August 2010 and referred to the current project Smart Glass, which was recently introduced at E3.
That system would support Blu-Ray with 3D native 1080p video output and full support for Xbox TV. Also, the system would rely on Windows 8 to offer a complete entertainment system.
The console would have been designed to be scalable in the number of CPU cores, which would be based between 6 ARM or a X86 2GHz for each of its cores. The system would have 4GB of RAM DDR4 and 3Â PPC cores at 3.2 GHz , thereby providing compatibility with Xbox 360. Xbox 720 games mentioned in the document are said to be between 4 and 6 times better than today’s games.
Next the new system would release a new version of Kinect, which would have better voice recognition and a 3D world, an upgraded camera and support for four simultaneous players.
There is also talk of “Project Fortress”, which would be augmented reality glasses that would support Wi-Fi and 4G. This device would be very similar to what Google is developing with its Project Glass, and will launch a year after the console.
