“It’s part of the role of a platform manufacturer to have the confidence to invest where necessary.”

Sony has a bunch of new IPs planned for release on PlayStation 3 in the near future, with releases like Beyond: Two Souls and The Last of Us at the top, Andrew House, executive of the Nippon company has talked with the British site MCV to straighten things out.
“It is absolutely critical to create new ideas”, said House. “We always felt that the strength of our platform has been a sort of symbiotic relationship between the platform created and strengthened with new experiences. And then we must strengthen and support their longevity.”
“I’ve heard the conventional wisdom of the industry that says that the early years of console life cycle is the time to innovate with new audiences,” said the Sony executive. “We took a different perspective. Is part of the role of a platform manufacturer to have the confidence to invest where necessary to demonstrate that there is a significant audience after 6 years that still shows interest by a new IP.”
