According to Variety Weekly he would be responsible for leading the cast of the film.

The prestigious American weekly magazine Variety, which specializes in entertainment, says the actor Michael Fassbender, known for his roles in 300, Inglourious Basterds, or the newly released in the U.S. Prometheus, will star in the film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.

The magazine has a statement of Jean Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, which explains the choice of the protagonist. “Michael Fassbender was our first choice,” stated the executive of the German actor. “Michael is an actor that is extremely intelligent, talented, versatile and committed”.

As for the formula of production, Baronnet also spoke. “We are open to re-discuss the key points with the studios regarding conditions when the production will be complete package,” he said. “Whatever the financial model, Ubisoft Motion Pictures will limit the risk of their investment.”
