3DS improves its sales, but Nintendo recorded losses of 180 million euros in the last quarter

They expect to sell about 18 million consoles during the current fiscal year.

Despite the increase in sales of 3DS, Nintendo has confirmed losses of 180 million euros over the past three months, even with the 900 million that the company has generated from April to June this year.

Again, the fact Nintendo has been hinted at the selling of its console at a price below production costs, while ensuring that “the profit margin from 3DS hardware is improving.” In this sense, the console sales have improved substantially with respect to data collected a year ago.

Thus, it has gone from 710,000 consoles sold during the same period in 2011, to 1.86 million units sold during the last three months. This leaves us with a base of 19 million consoles worldwide, that includes games 52.81 million (7.39 million have been sold during the last quarter).

With this data, Nintendo has once again confirmed they expect to sell 18 million consoles during the current fiscal year ending March 2013 with the launch of its highly anticipated titles like New Super Mario Bros. 2 and the new Brain Training.

As for Wii and Nintendo DS, both consoles continue to lose steam in the market, although its figures are more than acceptable. No wonder they have sold 710,000 Wii consoles during the past three months, with 8.47 million in games. When talking about the Nintendo DS, it has sold 540,000 units and 8.48 million games.

Nintendo hopes to return to positive results in terms of earning within nine months.
