Sony has announced that the next firmware or system upgrade for PSVita, version 1.80, will be available next August 28.
This version will bring several new features, mainly among them the possibility to use the handheld as a controller or as controller for PlayStation 3, or to enjoy the classic PSOne games in the handheld.
The following highlights the major developments from Sony in a press release.
- • Control the main menu and some applications such as videos, music or settings using the buttons on the console.
- • Playing videos with variable speed, also including multi-speed forward and reverse.
- • Support for playlists imported from PlayStation 3 or iTunes.
- • New “Control Crossed” icon available on the screen of the application LiveArea Remote, allowing players to use their control PSVita as PlayStation 3.
